This call-to-action from event organizers at Fresh Air Family will take you on a popular, guided tour of the wackiest, and tackiest, Christmas holiday decorations you will ever see around Birmingham for a much-needed cause.

A fundraiser for Fresh Air Family’s annual Gross Out Camp Scholarship Fund, the Wacky Tacky Lights Tour garnered close to $25,000 in financial aid for its 2021 Summer initiative.  However, this is just about half of what it has generated in the past.

 

In 2020, Wacky Tacky Lights stirred up $54,200 in scholarships. Some of the children who attend the Gross Out camps find respite as they escape violent household conditions, or are overcoming suicidal attempts. It is during this time these children get a break from what they’re dealing with to focus on learning and just being children.

 

Fresh Air Family is already quite exceptional at meeting its mission: getting children engaged with and loving science. Now, the organization’s cool Wacky Tacky Lights Tour is serving up much-needed fun and laughs for the holidays to surpass its mission.

 

“I personally curate the route,” said Verna Gates, Executive Director for Fresh Air Family. “My standards are low and hard to meet.”

 

It is here Wacky Tacky Lights Tourists will spend time gallivanting around displays such as Santa’s Trailer Park, the Hannukkah House, Dueling Neighbors, and Star Wars Christmas along with Saddle Up Santa and Xmas on a Limb, both new additions this year.

 

 

Try something new, and let your inner tacky be wacky for once! Don your tackiest Christmas sweater and join the Fresh Air Family crew around town for displays in this anti-Norman Rockwell Christmas tradition!

• December 14, 15, 16 and 21
• 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. (Buses will depart Tropicaleo every 10 – 15 minutes) 

 

GENERAL ADMISSION BUS:

• Members: $40
• Non-Members: $45

 

RESERVED PARTY BUS:

• $100 additional surcharge for one group
• $45 / $40 General Admission cost per person
