Due to growing popularity, UAB’s ArtPlay will once again host its online event in virtual classroom engagement.
On Tuesday, September 8 from 4:00 PM – 5:15 PM, guests can join via Zoom to hear ideas about keeping students engaged on virtual platforms.
Using knowledge culled from ArtPlay’s summer online camps and workshops that are geared from kindergarten through twelfth grade, presenters will explain useful techniques for classroom management that worked in enhancing student engagement.
Information is applicable across disciplines and grade levels. The presentation will be followed by a Q &A session.
Topics to be presented include:
- Getting to know the students
- Addressing fears
- How to set up a workspace in advance
- Explanations for using technology in the correct, respectful way
- Creating daily timelines
- When to add more breaks and when to stick to the prepared timeline
- How to lead instruction
- Determining if students are responding to instructions
- Using dual screens in order for students to see both you and your presentation
- Fun brainstorming ideas for engagement
- When and how to utilize movement activities to encourage engagement
