If you’ve lived in Birmingham for long or if you’re a fan of filmmaking, you’ve likely heard of the Sidewalk Film Festival. Every year in August since 1999, this week-long event brings over 350 films to the Magic City.
Held each year in the downtown Birmingham Theatre district, venues include the Alabama Theatre, the Lyric Theatre, Steiner Auditorium (Birmingham Museum of Art), the Dorothy Jemison Day Theatre (Alabama School of Fine Arts), Red Mountain Theatre Company Cabaret, the Rushton Theater (McWane Science Center), First Church Birmingham, the ASFA Black Box Theater and other lecture halls.
This award-winning festival is ranked as one of the Top 25 Festivals in the World by MovieMaker Magazine and offers low-priced passes for attendees, networking opportunities for industry professionals and students, and juried awards and recognition for the talented filmmakers showcased at the event.
This year, the twenty-second Sidewalk Film Festival is scheduled for August 23-29, 2021. For tickets or information on submitting, click HERE.
