Maybe you’re new to Birmingham, or maybe you haven’t been downtown during the evening between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. If not, you’re missing out on a spectacular view!
This year marks the forty-second year that Regions Center continues to light up downtown Birmingham with its iconic Christmas light display. Don’t miss it!

How it all started:
Built in 1972, the thirty-story building on the northwest corner of 20th Street and 5th Avenue North was originally occupied by Amsouth Bancorporation. In 1982, the idea of the holiday display was conceived and executed.
When Regions bought the building in 2006, they decided to keep the community tradition alive.
Using red and green sleeves over LED light bulbs, the patterns of Christmas trees, a huge Christmas stocking, and a giant wreath are showcased through the use of pattern grids in the windows.
The lights come on each night around sunset and remain on through the night creating Birmingham’s tallest display of Christmas decor. The December skyline of Birmingham wouldn’t be the same without it.
The lights begin at the fifth floor and go all the way up to the thirtieth story. The building can be viewed from many directions, even from the interstate. You can check it out here.
Don’t forget to include a trip downtown this year as you take in the many Christmas lights in the Magic City! It’s one of the surest signs the Christmas season has arrived.
