Glow Wild: An Animal Lantern Celebration will close Monday, January 17th! Definitely put this event on the family itinerary if you were unable to take it in during the holidays. With the shortened winter days, everyone can experience the lantern display prior to the dinner hour. So bundle up the family, and head on out to the Birmingham Zoo.

In a unique lantern production display, Glow Wild: An Animal Lantern Celebration depicts an array of beautiful wildlife from around the world. Experience plant and animal lantern creations such as cheetahs, birds, and more, some soaring over 25 feet into the air!

Travel on the Red Diamond Radiant Express Train or ride on the Protective Life Jingle Bell Carousel all winter long as you “Glow Wild” at the Birmingham Zoo.

The Birmingham Zoo suggests you’ll need one hour and thirty minutes to fully enjoy the Glow Wild experience. More time needs to be allowed if your family plans to ride the train or carousel.

DATES & TIMES

The event remains open through January 17th (MLK Day) from Wednesdays through Sundays. It opens at 5:00 p.m. and closes at 9:00 p.m. daily.

TICKET ORDERING & DISCOUNTS

The Birmingham Zoo offers daily discounts on all tickets pre-purchased online here, where you can select the date you wish to attend. Key factors to note are:

Online ticket sales stop at 2:00 PM daily. Non-discounted tickets may be purchased at the gate depending on availability.
For ticket savings, plan to attend on non-peak days (Wednesday and Thursday).
Birmingham Zoo members will receive 30% off.
Glow Wild tickets can’t be combined with additional coupons, specials, or offers.
Glow Wild tickets are non-refundable but are date and time transferable. This can be done by replying to your ticket purchase confirmation email.
Prices listed do not include tax.
Train & Carousel tickets are $3.95 plus tax per ride for ages 2 and up, and are sold onsite at each ride location.
Carousel tickets are sold onsite at the Nourish205 restaurant walk-up window.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Tickets are time-sensitive with arrival times issued in 30-minute blocks.
MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL VISITORS AGE 6 AND UP. Masks are required for all staff.
Please adhere to signs and guidance for proper entrance/exit. Traffic flow is marked and is one-way only.
Sanitation stations are available throughout the event.
The Birmingham Zoo asks that you remain home if you feel unwell.
