Farmers to Families Food Box Program coming Aug. 18

Famers to Families Food Box Program will provide fresh and healthy foods to people in need in the Birmingham community on August 18th.

Through a partnership between the Greater Birmingham YMCA and the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, this program has been available at eight YMCA locations for recurring distributions. Next, they’ll be at the Trussville YMCA on August 18th, located at 5920 Valley Rd., Trussville.

Each box contains fifteen to twenty-five pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out, rain or shine.

Pick-up will be via a drive-thru system in the parking lot of each participating YMCA. Recipients must stay in their vehicles. Volunteers wearing appropriate PPE will adhere to social distancing guidelines. The scheduled drive-thru time is 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
