THE GIRL WHO SWALLOWED A CACTUS

Ready for some outdoor, socially distanced, FREE theater? Birmingham Children’s Theatre is starting its 2020 season with a fun performance of The Girl Who Swallowed a Cactus, performed at Avondale Park Amphitheater on October 17th and 18th. Although there’s no charge for tickets, reservations must be made in advance in order to maintain social distancing during the event.

This show tells the story of Sheila and her friends who decide to build not just a fort, but the best fort ever! Then, a clever coyote enters (stage left) and sends them on an adventure that will inspire audiences of all ages. The Girl Who Swallowed a Cactus will entertain the whole family while bringing home a message about caring for the environment.

Running approximately 45 minutes, this performance is great for ages 3 through 10. There will be two performances on Saturday, October 17 at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. One performance on Sunday, October 18 will take place at 12:00 PM. Seating is on the ground, so attendees are asked to bring blankets or chairs for comfort.

Safety Measures

Everyone who is age 6 and over is required to wear a mask.
Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the event area.
Families will be seated together but will be six feet away from other families/groups.
No snacks will be sold. All attendees are invited to bring their own picnic or snack items.
Tickets must be reserved in advance Audience members will be required to show their tickets (either digital or printed) upon arrival.
