Founded in 1955, the Birmingham Zoo is the largest in the state of Alabama and ranks in the top ten percent of animal holding facilities in the nation.

Visitors can see everything from fine-feathered friends (over 300 bird species), ferocious felines, gentle giants (hippos, rhinos, elephants), and riveting reptiles. Snake your way through the Reptile House.

First Responders $14.95 – EMT/Paramedics, Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers – must show current and valid ID or badge

Safety Precautions

Healthy measures will be in place such as hand sanitizing stations throughout the park, rigorous sanitation protocols for high-touch areas including restrooms, handrails, viewing glass, door handles, and sensory room. Following CDC guidelines, the Birmingham Zoo requests that staff and guests stay home if feeling ill.

All guests over the age of six will be required to wear face masks in accordance with the State of Alabama ordinance.

Timed admission tickets are no longer required. Guests are encouraged to buy tickets online to reduce direct contact with Zoo employees.
