The Dr. K Show has partnered with event sponsors, Greater Birmingham Ministries, Heaven 610 WAGG, and 95.7 JAMZ, to name a few, to help the community.
Event sponsors will be giving away free groceries, providing COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, awarding door prizes, and, wait…voter’s registration?
“Yes, voter’s registration, because that is care,” stressed Dr. K. “We have to eliminate these disparities patients have with having access to care.”
Attendees will be able to visit a variety of vendors from the community while they get free clothing, and explore food trucks during the event.
Everyone is invited to attend and bring others along, as well as tell others who can benefit.
“We need the community to come and participate, and spread the word to everyone they know!” said Dr. K. “If you’re not able to come, word of mouth spreads much faster. We need people to come!”

The main goal of the wellness event is to provide education to be healthy and eliminate disease, as well as providing the knowledge of how the community can have access to healthcare.
As the world tentatively bounces back from a global pandemic, many are still seeking support for their families as they either return to work, are looking for work, or, remain furloughed.
COVID-19 exposed the catastrophic health disparities that run rampant in Black communities. This community drive is an opportunity for those who may not have health insurance or be under a doctor’s care to get the help they need.
Dr. K stresses that it is not just for the Birmingham community – all are welcomed to attend.

WHO IS DR. K
Dr. Kimberly “Dr. K” Garfield, professionally and widely known as “Dr. K.,” is a board-certified doctor of personal practice, and certified family nurse practitioner.
Those who know her are familiar with her passionate and heartfelt anecdotes that overflow from a heart reeling from her own personal experiences.
Having raised two adult children, a 25 year-old son, and an 18 year-old daughter, Dr. K understands the heart and work of caring for others.
She is an advocate for health, mental wellness, and overall self-care, as she is on a mission to tear down the disparities that ail the Black community.
When asked about where her decision to become a doctor came from, Dr. K’s response was swift.
“I was inspired by my mom and Diahann Carroll’s character, Julia Baker in the series, “Julia,” so my dream was to be a nurse,” said Dr. K.
But her dream changed along the way as she worked extremely hard as an RN but tired of being limited with how she could provide care to patients.
“As an RN, you’re not able to prescribe medications or order tests without a physician,” stated Dr. K. “I felt the need to be more involved and provide patients with more care, and the medications they need.”

DR. K’s PRODUCTS
Dr. K is the author of four books, which include the inspirational collection, #Q&N: Daily Inspirational Quotes & Notes, two children’s books, and a cookbook.
The book ideas stem a bit from research, but mainly from the needs of the community, as well as Dr. K’s personal experiences, and being an African-American woman.

For aromatherapy and stress relief, Dr. K also has an all-natural Soy & Shea Butter Massage Oil Kandle available here. The candle doubles as a scented candle and moisturizing massage oil.
The candle uses certified grade A creamy shea butter in its formula and contains no petroleum or artificial colors, which creates a clean, long-lasting burn.
After allowing the candle to burn, the melted oil can then be poured out and cooled slightly before being massaged into the skin.
