A merging of drumlines from schools and organizations in the Birmingham area merges runners and walkers to complete a 5K racecourse, or 1 Mile Fun Run for kids 12 and younger), to the beat of the drums. Each drumline will receive a donation to their band program from the Leftover Energy Foundation. Cost for registration is $40 at the event.

Gather with a number of city leaders for breakfast to reflect on the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Organized by the Community Affairs Committee, attendees will enjoy breakfast at 7 a.m., a performance by the MLK Unity Choir and rapper “Killer Mike.” Tickets are $50 and may be purchased at the door. As it closes out its popular Glow Wild lighting displays on Monday, January 17, the Birmingham Zoo welcomes the donation of any non-perishable or canned food item for half-price admission to the zoo. Enjoy the Zoo for only $8 (plus tax) for adults, $7 (plus tax) for senior citizens 65 years and older and military, and $5.50 (plus tax) for children ages 2-12 years old. Children under 2 are FREE.
