Join an amazing cast of performers and dancers under the direction and choreographic genius of Ursula Smith as they pour some brown sugar sizzle on the classic story of Tchaikovsky’s seasonal and warming classic, “The Nutcracker.” A legacy for generations that spans ethnicities, Smith’s take brings what the company itself notes as a “magnificent spectacle” diverse audiences have enjoyed for the past several years.
The 2020 Edition, A Cultural Holiday Experience, was presented virtually using landmark locations around the city of Birmingham as the scenic backdrops. Through this virtual performance, dancers leaped into hearts across the city, proving that in spite of the pandemic, the show really must, and could, go on.
For the 2021 holiday season, the Brown Sugar Nutcracker is properly named The Maskeruade Edition, as the full cast, crew, and audience will don their best mask throughout the presentation of the performance for everyone’s safety.
This weekend’s sweet adventure will only run for two dates. The production premieres tomorrow, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. Limited VIP and General Admission Seating is available as follows:
- $75 – VIP (includes Reserved Seating, Swag Bag, and Meet & Greet prior to the show)
- $45 – Adult
- $25 – Student or Child 12 or under
Be sure to gather up your family and friends, and wear your snazziest, holiday mask to this anticipated event. Plan on spending a glorious night in downtown Birmingham for a live, in-person theatrical dance experience to help you launch a wonderful winter break with the kids!
