Current guidelines:
FACEMASKS
All guests, members, and employees are required to wear masks per the City of Birmingham ordinance mandating the wearing of masks in all public places. “The Birmingham Zoo follows, and expects our guests and members to follow, all applicable government ordinances and we will adjust operational plans accordingly.” Children under 2 are not required to wear face coverings.
ONE-WAY PATH
The zoo will be a one-way directional experience with all guests entering through the front gate and exiting through the Children’s Zoo gate. There will be no re-entry after exiting. Ground markers indicating directions and appropriate social distancing will be in place for guidance. You can download a map of the one-way path HERE.
CHANGES TO AMENITIES
Amenities will be limited. The only restaurant open will be Wild Burger for outdoor dining. The gift shop will be closed but outdoor kiosks are available for shopping. Strollers will not be available to rent. NO CASH PAYMENTS. CREDIT CARDS ONLY.
WHAT’S REMAINING CLOSED
Plan on an outdoor-only experience. All buildings, playgrounds, rides, Henley Park, and interactive experiences will be closed. All shows/demonstrations/behind the scene experiences are on-hold.
STAYING HEALTHY
Healthy measures will be in place such as hand sanitizing stations throughout the park, rigorous sanitation protocols for high-touch areas including restrooms, handrails, viewing glass, door handles, and sensory room. Following CDC guidelines, the Birmingham Zoo requests that staff and guests stay home if feeling ill.
