Birmingham Museum of Art offers FREE virtual and in-person events

The Birmingham Museum of Art has reopened! Hours of operation remain Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 AM -5:00 PM. Sundays, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

Please review all safety guidelines before your visit. You can see all precautions that are in place HERE. Masks are required for all visitors over age two per the State of Alabama ordinances.

The BMA is proud to be on-site and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute on MLK, Jr. Day for a community art project.

Please come out (FREE admission) and help collaborate on a collage project inspired by the work of Jacob Lawrence, one of the first artists of color to break into NYC’s segregated art world in the 1950s.

Lawrence used his artwork to bring amplification to underrepresented voices prior to and during the Civil Rights Era. This project is presented in collaboration with Paperworkers Local, a Birmingham printmaking co-op.
