As of June 13, 2020, the Public Libraries in Jefferson County have updated the status of the branches that are beginning to open. Long-awaited information is available concerning continued closures, available resources, fees, and holds for materials. Has your local public library branch opened yet? Keep reading to find out!
Branches will be offering different plans for re-opening due to decisions made by local governments and library administrators.
During the closures, most branches were able to continue programs such as story hours, tween and teen groups, book clubs, and adult outreach services through virtual, online events and presentations. These appear to be continuing for the time being and many can be found on our events calendar (in progress).

If you had books on hold prior to closures, these will still be in place when your branch reopens. You can also still request materials from any of the forty libraries that are part of the Jefferson County Library Cooperative (JCLC) at most branches. See our list for exclusions.
Some libraries are now offering curbside service to pick up book holds. Check our list below to see where curbside pick up is available.
All due dates for library materials were paused from March 15 to June 1, 2020 with fees waived. If you’ve returned items and still see those items in your online account, please note that it can take up to a week for your account to update due to the need for returned items to remain in quarantine for up to 7 days.
No worries if your library card is expiring. You can easily renew online here for the full two years. If you don’t have a library card, you can get a temporary one online here.
Besides virtual events, libraries have continued to offer online resources. These are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
